Oblivion Journal Entry #04292006

Some time ago, I joined the Blades society.

They are an old, disciplined warrior's group, sworn to protect and defend the emperor (and his heir) and this lands.

Some of them have a peaceful life as monks, but all of them are mighty warriors, deadly with swords and katanas.

I found the emperor's secret son, and contacted the Blades to proceed. They told me I had to escort him to a safe place, the Blades fortress a the mountains near Bruma.

The fortress seems to be well protected.

I could watch a ceremony in honor of the emperor's heir.

And I were given the honor of becoming a Blade member. I received a sharped katana and access to all the complex.

Last night I had an unexpected visit, after killing "by accident" an explorer to steal his bow.

The Dark Brotherhood exists, and the legends are true. They come at night when you murder someone.

We speaked a bit, and I was told to fulfill a small task to prove worthy to join the brotherhood. I had to kill an old man that was staying at an inn.
The promises of power, magic items and working from the shadows appealed me, so I accepted.

After killing the old man, he came back and gave me some secret instructions to reach their unholy chapel.

I found the adbandoned house and got inside.

I was told a secret answer, that I had to use to enter this door.

Our leader is Vicent, a 300 hundred years old vampire. He gives me my contracts and rewards me for completing them. Our maximum leader is the dark mother, who nobody knows who she is...

I've given my "dark outfit", a light but magical leather armor very handy for infiltration missions.

My tasks involve "finishing lives", but in creative ways.

I've had to kill an old, rich man in a way it appeared an accident.

Or had to get to the Imperial prision by the sewers, and kill a prisioner without being seen by anyone (and escape back).

Now sometimes I wear this new outfit, when I want to be like a shadow in the forests.

The gates of Oblivion are open!

I've found a terrible thing... Somehow there are doors in some places around Trammiel, gates which go to hell itself, to Oblivion!

The first one opened in Kvatch, just in front of the castle.

I took my best equipment, and jumped into it, to found a way to close if forever.

This strange glypht can be found almost everywhere in this plane, so I suppose it's some sort of mark for Oblivion.

Inside the towers the view is terrifing. Dead bodies hanging, bones, demons, fires, and deadly spiked traps.

The Daedra are the foes living on Oblivion, and trying to conquer the normal plane. They are humanoid demons and very powerful adversaries.

Some towers need the activation of switches to extend connection bridges... Some sort of puzzles.

This orb is the key that opens and closes Oblivion gates. By touching it I closed the gate.

After closing the gate I was teleported back to Kvatch, where the fighters were waiting for me.

Soon we breaked into the castle (still full of enemies).

All was in flames, but we had to kill the enemies first, then bother about the fire.

Not all demons were Daedra; others were strange and terrific monsters.

We finally get rid of the enemies, but it was too late for the count, as he was dead...

After this incident I've closed another two gates, and each one gets harder to accomplish. I fear soon I'll have to keep away of them until I'm enough powerful.

What has just happened is incredible!

There are vampires in this lands! They're not a myth. They are real, so real I've had to kill some of them to free the city from their presence.

I discovered they were hiding in an old tomb far from the city, so I went there.

I found the entrance near the coast far to the west.

It was really creeepy, with hanging dead bodies, and sarcophagus everywhere.

Soon after deeping in I was attacked by undead zombies.

But they were not alone... I fought skeletons too, and the dangerous vampires, who tried to bite me and transform me into a foul beast like them.

But I did it, and cleansed the tomb from their presence.

After this quest, I've just restarted the game because of the huge amount of mods (some of them requiring a new game). I'll post right now a photo of my "new Kartones" (an ugly orc, hahaha!).

Things happen slow sometimes, and too fast other times...

I've been busy commercing in the city, learning where is each shop and important point.

The city guards are very helpful and usually give tips and directions to find the most common places.

I also visited the chapel, searching for someone able to identify a strange plant I found.

I even did some sneaknig missions, like following a suspicious shopkeeper to learn where his goods came from. It resulted he has a strange companion who looks very very suspicious.

Meanwhile, to earn some money and train my combat skills, I continued my career at the city's Arena. I had to fight many battles, and in some of them I almost died.

Some foes were very hard, but I managed to win, and now I'm the champion. There's only one battle left to fight, but I promised the actual Grand champion I would help him first to find his heritage, so I'll keep my word before reclaiming the final battle.

I bought a small wooden house outside the city. With the money earned at the arena, I've bought all available furniture, and now I'm getting decorative elements.

It's a bit spooky, but I like it that way (I've been informed that almost all medium-to-big-sized cities usually have one house to sell, so I'll suit other more formally).

One tip: Be careful when travelling at night outside cities. Even sticking to the roads, there are lots of bandits, wolves and even monsters lurking in the shadows...

The suspicious good provider resulted to be a thief, getting the jewels and stuff from dead people at the city graveyard. I surprised him (and his bodyguard) and had to kill them.

Thanks to that, I now have a new, better armor and a powerful elven sword.
