I still have pending the last touches to my Imperial Knight and the Rogue Trader Space Marine, but I got into priming all miniatures from Betrayal at Calth (blue/red + black base, so at least I can play with them) and I needed something really different for a change. So I picked up Nagash and started to paint it trying to follow more or less Warhammer TV's guide.
There's still much to be done, and sadly the images don't do justice but I only had at handmy phone, but after quite a few layers the ghost zones are quite nice, and I diverged a bit from the path and added some thraka green wash to remark shadows. The soldiers that will march around Nagash look better with it.
It seems that all rumours and analysis of the teasers were right, and we have a big Thousand Sons update! More especifically:
As can all be seen in this "summary" trade poster official image (click on the image to open it full-size):
This past months I've been publishing almost only comic and book reviews, but I am actually doing more things related with miniatures and RPGs. First of all, I've been playing videogames more frequently; Steam sales and offers plus some awaited releases made me spend most spare time either reading or playing. Now that I've finished some games, I'm slowing the pace as I want to do more things, but my currently installed games say a lot about what I'll focus on. As can be seen in the following picture, I bought from an offer the Warmachine Tactics videogame, I was curious and I always welcome turn-based strategy games... but I haven't yet tried it so can't say how good or bad it is.
I still have some games pending finishing, including some really long ones like Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2 and Grim Dawn, but no need to hurry. I'm focusing one or two non-GW games at a time only, and sometimes I throw into the mix an arcade or console game. Lately Games Workshop is doing a great job on PC regarding licenses, and I've deleted from my PC classics like Space Marine or Dawn of War II, both of which I've finished multiple times, to not overflow, but I really like having so many options to play digitally. I've also preordered the incoming Space Hulk: Deathwing and will do the same with Dawn of War III as soon as it is possible. Exciting times ahead!
Regarding miniatures, I've assembled every pending miniature I had and base primed a lot, but didn't painted much until recently. Now I am painting, mostly:
I might also retake painting Necrons, as they are quite easy and fast to do, but not until the lord of the undead is done. And about other miniatures than Games Workshop's, I finished painting two small lead witches as a small gift for my girlfriend, one green and one violet. Nothing impressive but was good for a change.
And that's mostly all, I keep reading but right now still going through a lot of pending comics before retaking Horus Heresy novels.
I've been quite silent lately. The reasons are a mixture, but basically:
I just migrated this blog's internal system. Instead of doing it earlier I chose to migrate another blog, experiment with that one and once the process was mature and stable, apply to this one. Everything went smoothly and all content should be here, including custom pieces like the photo galleries. The one piece missing is the old, dark design, in which I'm working but as usual it is not easy to move from one blog engine to a different one.
I am painting and "reshaping" my home. Initially was a simple painting of the rooms, but as usual things got out of
control and I've changed all my miniatures from shelves to
glass-door cabinets,
removed a table (now keeping both the computer and tools in the same one)... And most important, we're cleaning lots of
old stuff from the house, either trashing it or gifting it.
This also helped me notice that I have way too many miniatures, so I've started gifting some old ones and storing
others in their game boxes.
I am base-priming all Betrayal at Calth minis so it is easier to play with them, but now with the showcases I have a more urgent feeling of some badly painted or half-painted minis requiring urgent work. So I'm not doing anything fancy...
I also couldn't resist adquiring Deathwatch: Overkill for those incredible genestealer minis (Deathwatch ones are also cool but my genestealer cult will love the additions), so I also have another bunch of sprues to work on.
And that's mostly everything, for now... Soon, more interesting posts
After more than a year, it looks I might finally be able to finish my Imperial Knight. Right now is only missing some details, the base and transfers, so while has taken me a lot, at least there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Also, I don't usually post images of my custom conversions until I have started painting them because they might take a while... but to not leave this post too short I'm going to show two vehicles I plan to paint soon. They are binded to the other because I wanted to build a Ork looted Leman Russ tak, but just one with some changes wasnt't looking different enought, so after some brainstorming, I came up with the idea of doing like in the old times... using a Rhino for everything. After this devilish mix of the APC and the tank, here are the two creatures...
Ork Dakka Burna Tank
Leman Russ body, Space Marines Rhino sides and tracks, plus some spare tank weapons and "ork panels" that I had let (bought on the net somewhere a while ago).
It was only a bit hard to separate the Rhino tracks from the main body without breaking any of them, everything else went smoothly and the tank captain has a funny crazy pose.
Leman Russ Rhino conversion
Space Marines Rhino body, Leman Russ tracks. It is more simple, but I love how just "inverting the tracks" (using Leman Russ ones) creates the feel of a completely different tank, or in my case a different APC.
As the Rhino has the sides "joined" with the tracks I had to improvise, but some spare doors (from other Rhinos) worked fine as walls. I had to make the rear door a bit smaller on the sides but in general was a quick assembly.
So... this are two of my three vehicle projects that I plan to paint when I finish with the Knight. The third one is an idea that I had after watching an old movie... but I'll leave the details and photos for when I paint it (it will be the first one of the list).
